Just found this little remix of Ether I did a while ago using a Mogwai loop. I liked it a lot at the time, I remember listening to it a few times over while sitting on a bus in the rain for some reason. Happy times! It’s pretty simple, but I prefer it to the original and I’ve got a few “who’s remix is this?” questions from folks when I’ve played it out. Hope someone out there digs it.
This new mix by Take was recommended to me and it is FIRE! Don’t have a tracklist, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. You might remember him from the Sounds of LA comp out last year and he has a new EP out which I think I’m going to have to check out after hearing this.

a while back I was trying to put together a mix by using loops from intros and interludes in hip hop albums with acapellas to make full tracks. It never really came to anything as the tempo was always changing so it sounded a bit disjointed and I thought about flipping the idea by making my own little interludes between tracks using simple loops from full songs, but that is quite a big project to take on so I never found the time. These were the two best bits and I don’t think I’ll ever finish the mix so here you go. enjoy.
It’s weird, I remember being quite underwhelmed by Malcolm Catto’s first album when it came out, but since hearing the heliocentrics album this year I’ve revisited it and it really kicks arse in a few places. Metropolis in particular sticks out, but the heliocentrics LP still wins for me, it’s definitely one of my favourite records of last year.
